    Summary

    Daily measurement of postnatal symphysis-fundal distance is not precise enough for clinical use. This tape measure method should be discontinued due to high intra-observer and inter-observer variability.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate intra-observer and inter-observer variability in postnatal SFD measurements.
    • To determine if SFD measurement precision is adequate for clinical decision-making.

    Main Methods:

    • Intra-observer study: 15 midwives measured SFD on 30 women twice.
    • Inter-observer study: 13 midwives measured SFD on 24 women.
    • Repeatability coefficients were calculated to quantify measurement variability.
