Abstract:
New technologies may contribute to innovation and improvement of the quality of healthcare. A necessary condition to achieve this objective is a good relationships between all parties involved: healthcare providers, healthcare institutions, and healthcare insurance companies. The Delft project proves that a smartcard facilitates the linking up of activities of the various participants. As a result, the quality of care improves while, at the same time, administrative procedures and the financial settlement of transactions are simplified.
