Summary

This case study reports the first serologically confirmed human infection of pulmonary coccidioidomycosis in the Netherlands. Diagnosis involved identifying Coccidioides immitis in a patient with lung lesions and eosinophilia after desert travel.

Background:

A 42-year-old male presented with cough and fever after a 10-day desert trip to California.
Initial examination showed no distinct physical abnormalities, but radiological findings revealed a left upper lobe lung lesion and hilar lymphadenopathy.
