    Summary

    Chronic tellurium intoxication in young rats causes neuronal lipofuscin accumulation and initial Schwann cell vacuolation. Needle-shaped crystals containing tellurium were identified in neuronal lysosomes, revealing key pathology in tellurium peripheral neuropathy.

    Background:

    • Tellurium intoxication is a known neurotoxicant.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the pathological changes in the central and peripheral nervous system following chronic tellurium intoxication in young rats.
    • To identify the composition of crystalline structures within neurons affected by tellurium.
