Cerebral alveolar hydatidosis: case report

Summary

A rare alveolar hydatid cyst caused brain metastases in a young man. Prompt surgery successfully removed the parietal mass, offering a life-saving intervention for this unexpected presentation.

Background:

Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a severe parasitic infection caused by Echinococcus multilocularis.
Hepatic AE is the most common form, but rare cases of AE with cerebral involvement have been reported.
Cerebral metastases from AE can mimic primary brain tumors or other metastatic lesions.
