[Therapeutic "masks" of primary hypothyroidism]

Misdiagnosis of primary hypothyroidism may be due to its running under the mask of myocardiodystrophy, coronary heart disease, bacterial and allergic myocarditis, arterial hypertension. It may underlie edema or accompany malignancy (thyroid cancer, in particular). Accurate diagnosis is complicated by primary damage to one organ or system.
