    Summary

    Patients with endogenous depression show higher levels of specific polyunsaturated fatty acids in plasma choline phosphoglycerides (CPG). This finding may aid in diagnosing depression and understanding its pathology.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the fatty acid composition of plasma choline phosphoglycerides (CPG) and erythrocyte ethanolamine phosphoglycerides (EPG) in patients with endogenous depression.
    • To compare these findings with non-depressive psychiatric patients and healthy controls.
    • To explore the potential diagnostic value of plasma CPG fatty acid profiles in endogenous depression.
