Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the mediator release patterns in patients experiencing postoperative hyperdynamic circulatory dysregulation.
  • To determine the association between specific mediators and circulatory/metabolic changes after open heart operations.

Main Methods:

  • Compared mediator release, metabolic, and hemodynamic changes in 10 patients with hyperdynamic instability (Group I) versus 10 with stable hemodynamics (Group II) post-cardiac surgery.
  • Analyzed serum levels of cytokines (IL-6, TNF, IL-8), elastase, endotoxin, and adhesion molecules until the third postoperative day.
