[An isolated parathyroid adenoma]

The paper presents a 14-year-old girl with an isolated parathyroid adenoma which was manifested by arthralgia, decreased muscle strength and gait disturbances. Hyperparathyroidism resulting from parathyroid adenoma was diagnosed on the basis of the characteristic X-ray picture and biochemical findings. Surgical treatment led to a subsidence of symptoms and a gradual improvement of the bone lesions as visualized by X-ray. The authors stress the rare incidence of parathyroid adenoma in such young patient.
