[Specific segments of the amino acid sequence of plant peroxidase]

Plant and some fungal peroxidases have been found to contain a specific site in the amino acid sequence which makes the above enzymes distinct from other known structural and functional protein families. This site allows an unambiguous identification of the protein by its amino acid sequence provided the former is related to the above enzyme groups even in the absence of its homology to these enzymes.
