Autoimmunity against cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase (SR-Ca2+ ATPase) can cause immune-mediated myocarditis. This study shows that targeting SR-Ca2+ ATPase in mice leads to heart muscle injury, suggesting its role in autoimmune heart disease.
