Summary

This study found that response latencies and Stroop interference in a single-stimulus Stroop test are reliable. This format also allows for high internal consistency estimation for Stroop interference.

Background:

The Stroop test is widely used in cognitive psychology and neuroscience.
Reliability estimations are lacking for most Stroop test versions.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the test-retest reliability of a single-stimulus Stroop test.
To assess the internal consistency of Stroop interference in this format.

Main Methods:

55 Swiss German subjects were tested using a single-stimulus presentation format.
Test-retest reliabilities for 'XXXX' strings and conflicting color words were evaluated.
Response latencies and Stroop interference were measured.

Main Results:

Response latencies and Stroop interference demonstrated high test-retest reliability.
Internal consistency for classical Stroop interference was found to be high.
Single-stimulus presentation facilitated reliability and consistency estimations.

Conclusions:

The single-stimulus Stroop test format offers reliable measurements of response latencies and interference.
This format is suitable for assessing cognitive functions and provides high internal consistency.
Further research can utilize this reliable Stroop test version for cognitive studies.
