Abstract:
It is important to maintain oxygen supply to the tissues. The article reviews the physiology of oxygen transport and highlights the use of pulse oximetry as a versatile tool for monitoring the adequacy of patient oxygenation in various nursing situations. The practicalities of using a pulse oximeter are discussed.
