Summary

Ingesting essential amino acids without phenylalanine and tyrosine rapidly lowers plasma levels of these amino acids. This reduction in essential amino acids was linked to a decrease in blood pressure.

  • Plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine levels, along with systolic and diastolic arterial pressure, were monitored over time.

    • Ingestion of the amino acid solution led to a rapid and dose-proportional decrease in plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine concentrations.

    • A specific essential amino acid mixture lacking phenylalanine and tyrosine can effectively reduce plasma levels of these amino acids in healthy individuals.
    • The observed decrease in plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine is dose-dependent and sustained.
    • The reduction in plasma phenylalanine and tyrosine is associated with a decrease in arterial blood pressure, suggesting a potential physiological link.
