Cardiology. Maudsley Hospital Smokers' Clinic: a progress report
Abstract:
Tobacco causes more deaths each year than alcohol, heroin, cocaine, AIDS, fires, homicide, suicide and road traffic accidents combined. Despite this staggering statistic, persuading smokers to stop and reducing the number of young people who take up the habit have proved very difficult. This article looks at the Smokers' Clinic at the Maudsley Hospital, London, which is undertaking research to develop more effective approaches.
