Primary small cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder: report of a case

A 66-year-old male presented with diffuse abdominal pain and microscopic hematuria characteristic of perirenal urinoma formation. After a biopsy, he was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder. The patient was treated by radical cystoprostatectomy with orthotopic bladder replacement using the Camey II procedure. Daytime urinary continence was achieved 6 months after surgery. The patient died of carcinomatosis 15 months after diagnosis.
