Abstract:
Recent changes to nurse education within the United Kingdom (UK) have proved to be a source of great confusion in many respects, much of which is based on a manifest lack of appreciation of the nature and basis of the changes which are in fact driven by the requirements of European integration. This paper argues that the lack of clarity and publicity, 'transparency', in the process of transposing the requirements of European policy relating to nurse education into UK domestic policy can be blamed for aspects of the lingering confusion within the profession.
