    • Limited research exists on the decision-making processes involved in developing care plans within case management literature.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To explore factors influencing case manager decision-making during care plan development.
    • To investigate the decision-making process within the Edmonton Home Care Program (EHCP).

    Main Methods:

    • An exploratory study utilizing fictional case studies to guide care plan construction.
    • A volunteer sample of six EHCP case managers (nurses, occupational therapists, social workers) participated.
    • Data collected through individual semi-structured interviews and a group session for in-depth analysis.

    • Client and/or caregiver characteristics emerged as the most significant factors influencing care plan decisions.
    • Case managers indicated discomfort and potential challenges regarding fiscal accountability in their role.
