An evaluation of the role of the nurse practitioner

There is a lack of clarity over where the role of the doctor ends and that of the nurse practitioner starts. In this paper the author discusses the problems associated with this confusion, most notably practice variation and argues that there is a need for guidelines for advanced nursing practice and rigorous evaluation.
