Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate peripheral macrophage function as an early indicator of oxygen free radical release in IgA nephropathy (IgAN).
  • To evaluate the therapeutic effect of vitamin E on proteinuria and macrophage-derived oxygen free radicals in a rat model of IgAN.

    Conclusions:

    • Peripheral macrophage oxygen free radical production may serve as an early index in IgA nephropathy development.
    • Vitamin E demonstrates a protective effect by reducing both proteinuria and oxidative stress in IgAN.
    • These findings highlight the potential role of antioxidants in managing IgA nephropathy.
