    Area of Science:

    • Infectious Diseases
    • Rheumatology
    • Musculoskeletal Disorders

    Background:

    • Toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection, can present with diverse clinical manifestations.
    • Polytenosynovitis, inflammation of tendon sheaths and surrounding tissues, is an uncommon presentation of toxoplasmosis.

    Observation:

    • Two cases of polytenosynovitis affecting the wrists and ankles are detailed.
    • Diagnostic investigations were performed to identify toxoplasmosis as the causative agent.

    Findings:

    • Diagnosis of toxoplasmosis was confirmed through specific investigations.
    • Both patients responded well to treatment, with the first receiving medical and surgical care, and the second receiving medical treatment alone.

    Implications:

    • Highlights the importance of considering toxoplasmosis in the differential diagnosis of polytenosynovitis.
    • Demonstrates the efficacy of both combined and medical-only treatment strategies for toxoplasmosis-induced polytenosynovitis.
