Background:

Establishing normative data for audiological tests is crucial for identifying hearing impairments in children.
Immittance measures, including tympanometry and acoustic reflexes, are key components of a comprehensive audiological evaluation.

Purpose of the Study:

To determine median values and distributions of tympanometric variables and acoustic reflex thresholds in unselected school-aged children.
To provide normative immittance data for otologically normal children aged 7, 10, and 14 years.

Main Methods:

A total of 687 children aged 6-15 years underwent clinical, audiometric, and tympanometric examinations.
A subset of 471 children, confirmed to have healthy tympanic membranes and normal hearing thresholds, were selected for normative data analysis.

Main Results:

Median equivalent ear canal volume (Vec) increased with age in both unselected and selected groups.
Median peak admittance (Ytm) and tympanometric peak pressure (TPP) values showed age-related trends, with TPP being higher in otologically normal children.
Acoustic reflex thresholds were higher in younger children compared to older children.

Conclusions:

The study offers valuable immittance findings for an unselected sample of school-aged children, representative of the general population.
The generated normative data for 7-, 10-, and 14-year-old children are useful for clinical audiological assessments, considering equipment limitations.
