Abstract
Background And Objectives:
A case is presented of intractable reflex sympathetic dystrophy resistant to all other types of treatment.
Methods:
Twice daily subarachnoid clonidine was used to manage the symptoms via an implanted drug delivery system.
Results:
The patient has successfully administered his own subarachnoid clonidine for over 18 months with no signs of tolerance or toxicity.
Conclusions:
Continuous subarachnoid clonidine may offer a solution to the management of some cases of intractable reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
