[The surgical treatment of severe chronic constipation]

Materials of surgical treatment of 5 patients are presented who were conservatively treated for severe chronic constipation. This treatment was unsuccessful. Truncal subdiaphragmatic vagotomy with pyloroplasty was fulfilled in 4 patients, in one patient this procedure was accompanied by resection of the sigmoid colon. In all the patients the results obtained were promising.
