[The opiate-like and antimicrobial bioactivities of food protein peptides]

At least four food peptides were found to possess opiate-like and antibacterial properties, lys-arg-fen-ala-glu being the most active one. These peptides seem to be able to become accumulated in high concentrations in indigestion and induce an intestinal spasm and constipation.
