[The problem of recognizing venous thrombosis in renal cancers]

Abstract:
The authors, basing on their own experience and literature data, discuss possibilities of recognizing preoperative thrombosis of vena cava inferior and renal vein in patients with kidney cancer. The material comprises 86 patients of both sexes, aged 25-82 years with operatively and microscopically verified renal cancer. Combined examinations (urosonography, USG and CT) showed the presence of venous thrombosis in 15% cases. Diagnostic value of individual techniques differed from case to case and, therefore, we think that the best diagnosis results can be obtained by using combined imaging techniques.
