Insights
Intracranial hemangiopericytoma has been observed to metastasize to the heart, a rare occurrence. Cardiac MRI effectively identified paracardiac tumors and their characteristics.
Area of Science:
- Neuropathology
- Cardiovascular Imaging
- Oncology
Background:
- Intracranial hemangiopericytoma is a rare tumor originating in the brain.
- Cardiac involvement by central nervous system tumors is exceptionally uncommon.
Observation:
- A case of intracranial hemangiopericytoma metastasis to the heart is presented.
- The tumor presented as paracardiac masses.
Findings:
- Metastasis of intracranial hemangiopericytoma to the heart was confirmed.
- Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) accurately depicted the location and features of the paracardiac tumors.
Implications:
- This finding expands the known metastatic potential of intracranial hemangiopericytoma.
- Cardiac MRI is a valuable tool for diagnosing and characterizing paracardiac masses, especially in the context of oncological evaluation.
Abstract:
We report for the first time the metastasis of intracranial hemangiopericytoma to the heart. In evaluating cardiac conditions, MRI provided useful information regarding the location and features of paracardiac tumors.
