Summary

Nylon net offers an effective and affordable alternative to expensive polypropylene mesh for mesh laparotomies. This study found similar efficacy and complication rates between nylon net and polypropylene mesh in patients undergoing this surgical procedure.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the efficacy and complication rates of nylon net versus polypropylene mesh for mesh laparotomies.
  • To evaluate nylon net as a cost-effective substitute for polypropylene mesh.

  • A retrospective study involving 51 patients undergoing mesh laparotomies.
  • Patients were divided into two groups: polypropylene mesh (n=25) and nylon net (n=26).
  • Groups were matched for age, sex, surgical indication, and mortality.
