Hypertension registry as the base for population health care
1Public Health Institute of Split-Dalmation County, Hrvatska/Croatia/Europe.
Insights
A new Hypertension Registry (REH) prototype was developed for Croatia, improving arterial hypertension data collection and patient monitoring. This system supports comprehensive population and hospital-based health planning.
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Medicine
- Health Informatics
- Public Health
Background:
- Arterial hypertension management requires comprehensive data for effective planning.
- The Republic of Croatia currently lacks a coherent Hypertension Registry (REH).
- Clinical Hospital Split data provides a basis for a new REH prototype.
Purpose of the Study:
- To present a new relational database prototype for a national Hypertension Registry (REH).
- To demonstrate the REH's capability in observing arterial hypertension data.
- To support adequate health protection planning through improved data management.
Main Methods:
- Development of a relational database for the Hypertension Registry (REH).
- Testing the REH prototype using patient data from Clinical Hospital Split.
- Implementing electronic data processing for comprehensive patient data observation.
Main Results:
- A functional prototype of the Hypertension Registry (REH) was successfully developed and tested.
- The system enables detailed observation of arterial hypertension data.
- The REH supports long-term patient condition monitoring until death.
Conclusions:
- The developed REH prototype is a significant step towards a national registry in Croatia.
- This system enhances the observation of arterial hypertension, aiding population and hospital registry functions.
- The REH facilitates improved health protection planning through robust data management.
Abstract:
The Hypertension Registry (REH) is an instrument for the observation of all the data relevant for arterial hypertension (number, type, spread, etc.), enabling an adequate protection planning. As actually there is no relevant coherent REH in the Republic of Croatia, this work presents new relational database, i.e. prototype of REH tested on data of Clinical Hospital Split. REH supported by electronic data processing and based on the observation of the relevant patients data including the observation (the condition control) of the diseased until death, comprises the signification of the population and hospital registry.
