    Area of Science:

    • Orthopedic Surgery
    • Hematology

    Background:

    • Hemophilia often leads to severe knee joint destruction and chronic pain.
    • Current treatments may not fully alleviate pain and joint damage.

    Observation:

    • Four modular total knee replacements were performed on three hemophilia patients.
    • The procedures incorporated synovectomy and proper use of blood concentrates.

    Findings:

    • All surgeries were completed without immediate complications.
    • At two years or more follow-up, patients reported being pain-free.
    • One patient experienced occasional recurrence of joint bleeding.

    Implications:

    • Total knee replacement is a viable and safe surgical option for hemophilia patients with severe knee damage.
    • Blood concentrates are crucial for managing bleeding risks during surgery.
    • Further monitoring is needed for patients with recurrent bleeding episodes.
