Summary

Rectal tuberculosis is uncommon, even in high-prevalence areas. Diagnosis of this rare gastrointestinal tuberculosis form in a child relied on surgical biopsy showing classical tubercles.

  • Gastrointestinal tuberculosis (GITB) is more common than rectal tuberculosis, but still infrequently reported.
  • Nonspecific symptoms and non-distinctive radiological/endoscopic findings often complicate the diagnosis of rectal tuberculosis.
