MP 48 expression in red blood cells of renal transplant recipients
1College of Health Sciences, Babrain.
Abstract:
MP48 is a protein expressed in diseased kidney sections but not in normal kidney sections. It is also expressed in the spleen, liver and pancrease but not in the erythrocytes of healthy persons. This study shows that MP48 is expressed in the erythrocytes of renal transplant recipients using an EPICS-C flow cytometer (Coulter Immunology). The expression of this antigen amongst renal transplant recipients reveals some pathological and immunological alteration amongst renal transplant recipients for the production of MP48 protein.
Insights
MP48 protein is found in the erythrocytes of kidney transplant patients, unlike in healthy individuals. This finding suggests potential pathological and immunological changes in transplant recipients related to MP48 production.
Area of Science:
- Immunology
- Nephrology
- Protein Expression Analysis
Background:
- MP48 protein is detected in diseased kidney tissues but absent in normal kidneys.
- In healthy individuals, MP48 is present in the spleen, liver, and pancreas, but not in erythrocytes.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the expression of MP48 in the erythrocytes of renal transplant recipients.
- To determine if MP48 expression in erythrocytes correlates with pathological or immunological alterations in these patients.
Main Methods:
- Utilized EPICS-C flow cytometry (Coulter Immunology) for detecting MP48 expression.
- Analyzed blood samples from renal transplant recipients.
Main Results:
- MP48 was found to be expressed in the erythrocytes of renal transplant recipients.
- This expression was not observed in the erythrocytes of healthy individuals.
Conclusions:
- The presence of MP48 in erythrocytes of renal transplant recipients indicates a potential biomarker.
- MP48 expression may signify underlying pathological and immunological changes post-transplantation.
