The effect of combination chemotherapy on neutrophil function in cancer patients

The effect of adjuvant and palliative combination chemotherapy (Vincristine, MeCCNU, 5-Fluorouracil) on neutrophil function was studied in 18 patients prior to and during the anticancer treatment. Neutrophil responsiveness was assessed by leukocyte chemotaxis and chemiluminescence. No impairment could be observed in the circulating phagocyte function in either of the 2 groups before or in connection with short or long-term treatment.
