Why the modern community has stopped caring

This article explores what is meant by the term 'community' from a sociological perspective. It examines the changes occurring since the Industrial Revolution which have resulted in an increase in individualism and the disappearance of traditional community values. With the advent of the NHS and the Community Care Act, it questions the ability of modern communities to care for their vulnerable members within this context.
