Abstract:
Parents need guidance regarding the oral health of their infant children. The dental profession is best suited by training and experience to provide this information. Issues such as timing of the first appointment, examination techniques, caries prevention, fluoride management and non-nutritive sucking habits are discussed. Counseling of parents can minimize many of the technical interventions necessary in infancy and later childhood.
