Abstract:
Long-term oxygen therapy may be prescribed for patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This project set out to identify the needs of this group of patients. Education and advice were then given at home by a respiratory nurse specialist and the patients were reassessed six to 12 months later. As a result of the problems identified, an information leaflet has been produced and a home visiting service established.
