Abstract:
Standardisation was necessary to improve the treatment of venous leg ulceration in the community and reduce costs. A study was conducted to assess the performance of a compression bandage with orthopaedic wool and patient compliance with this system. Patients were assessed weekly, and photographs taken to monitor progress. Nine out of 11 patients healed in an average time of eight weeks, and the total cost for 12 weeks' treatment was estimated at 130.02 pounds.
