Development of a conscious sedation policy

Conscious sedation (CS) is used in a variety of healthcare settings on a wide range of patients. The methods of monitoring patients during and after the administration of CS vary considerably from one setting to another. In an effort to provide continuity of care, a project was undertaken to establish an organization-wide policy for the care of patients receiving CS.
