Abstract
Objective:
Blood samples obtained from centralvenous catheters are commonly used on intensive care units. In this paper the question of valid conditions for sampling blood coagulation parameters of patients with heparinised catheters is examined and the data are compared with the literature.
Study Design:
Blood samples were obtained at the same time as well via centralvenous catheters as from the periphery. The results of the examination were compared to each other.
Results:
After the aspiration of 10 ml of blood via centralvenous catheters there were no differences between peripheral and central obtained samples as regards blood coagulation parameters.
