  • Understanding diagnostic stability is crucial for treatment planning.
  • Early psychosis research informs long-term outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the diagnostic stability of schizophreniform disorder.
  • To evaluate clinical and global functioning after one year.
  • To determine if patients remain within the schizophrenic spectrum.

Main Methods:

  • Preliminary data from a 12-patient sample.
  • Assessment at first psychotic episode with schizophreniform disorder diagnosis.
  • One-year follow-up with re-evaluation of clinical and functioning variables.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Clinical diagnosis used as the primary outcome measure.
  • Main Results:

    • All patients were reassessed after a 1-year follow-up period.
    • Diagnostic stability was observed within the schizophrenic spectrum.
    • Clinical and global functioning variables were evaluated.

    Conclusions:

    • Schizophreniform disorder diagnosis shows stability in the schizophrenic spectrum over one year.
    • This preliminary finding suggests a consistent diagnostic trajectory.
    • Further research with larger samples is warranted.
