[Clinical and therapeutic aspects of haemorrhagic glaucoma (author's transl)]

Haemorrhagic glaucoma is a clinical syndrome. It is in fact the terminal stage of many very different ocular conditions. During the evolution towards the hypertensive haemorrhagic stage two conditions are essential: venous stasis and neoformation of capillary vessels. These factors have different incidence, but they are always present and affect each other. On the base of the pathogenesis the therapy of haemorrhagic glaucoma is more effective the sooner it is applied. When the syndrome is clear-cut the therapeutic possibilities are very poor. For these cases the authors suggest the operation of diathermotrabeculectomy whose surgical procedure is detailed.
