Summary

Compression of the optic nerve by a dolichoectatic internal carotid artery can cause vision loss. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can diagnose this, and surgical decompression can restore sight.

  • The patient experienced improved vision in the affected eye post-intervention.

Implications:

  • Dolichoectatic internal carotid artery compression is a treatable cause of optic nerve dysfunction.
