Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is often multifocal in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Macroregenerative nodules (MRNs) may be a precursor pathway, while small cell liver dysplasia (SLCD) is a potential step in malignant transformation.
