Eosinophilic globoid body of the pancreas
Abstract:
Histological, histochemical and ultrastructural studies of the eosinophilic globoid body of the human pancreas are described. It had a central cavity surrounded by a collarband measuring approximately 70 micrometers in diameter and is definitely different from cross section of small arteries. The complex ultrastructure was revealed with electron microscope in the eosinophilic globoid body. This consisted of various patterns of unit membranes. Some of the bodies are probably derived from the membrane systems of the pancreatic acinar cells.
