Summary

Vitreous opacification in phacolytic glaucoma (PG) is a self-limiting condition. This finding suggests that surgical intervention may not always be necessary for vitreous opacities in PG.

Background:

  • Phacolytic glaucoma (PG) is a type of secondary angle-closure glaucoma.
  • It is caused by the leakage of lens proteins into the anterior chamber.
  • Vitreous opacification is an uncommon presentation in PG.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the occurrence and characteristics of vitreous opacification in patients with phacolytic glaucoma.
  • To evaluate the clinical course and management of vitreous opacities in PG.
  • To determine if vitreous opacification in PG requires specific intervention.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of medical records of patients diagnosed with phacolytic glaucoma.
  • Analysis of 135 eyes with PG to identify cases with vitreous opacification.
  • Clinical examination and surgical findings were used to confirm vitreous opacities.
