    This study investigated if bronchitis protects coal miners from pneumoconiosis. Researchers found no evidence that bronchitis prevents the development of this lung disease.

    Background:

    • To determine if pre-existing bronchitis offers any protective effect against the development of pneumoconiosis in British coal miners.
