Abstract:
The future of the biomedical communications unit is seen by many to be under threat but there are also good reasons to be optimistic. The ability to diversify will help ensure a secure future as will the maintenance of the highest professional standards. Above all, a willingness to harness new technology effectively to the communication needs of the medical community will mean that the skills of the biomedical communicator could become more valued than ever before.
