    Summary

    Serial Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) monitoring aids early detection of gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma recurrence. Rising CEA levels can predict metastases or local recurrence up to 10 months before clinical diagnosis, improving patient outcomes.
