Summary

Cognitive impairments in anorexia nervosa persist despite therapy and weight gain. This study found that while patients improved psychologically, their attention, reaction times, and motor speed did not recover.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate if inpatient therapy and weight restoration improve cognitive functions in individuals with anorexia nervosa.

  • A group of 12 individuals with anorexia nervosa underwent 12 weeks of inpatient treatment.
  • Cognitive performance tasks and psychopathology measures were administered at baseline, midpoint, and end of treatment.
