[Training in family medicine at the Haynal Imre University, Budapest]

Using the example of the Family Medicine Department of the Imre Haynal University of Health Sciences the authors explore the general situation, problems, and possible future trends of the Hungarian graduate and postgraduate training of family practitioners. They emphasize that a less expensive, more cost-effective, and better basic health care can be established through the introduction of modern and high standard family training.
